Who Else Wants To Easily Prevent Small Fiber Neuropathy?

Can you imagine yourself having a neuropathic condition? The inability to feel anything at all and how difficult it is to deal with everyday. That’s quite a disconcerting thought. Small fiber neuropathy is a disorder of the nerves that damages the body’s nerves making them insensitive to feeling sensation (hot, cold) it is also caused by sickness such as Diabetes, HIV, various side effects from medicines. Having a poor kind of lifestyle also contributes to this and other causes.

People, unfortunately, do not take care of themselves and only take measures when the condition is there. They would rather wait for the disorder to attack them. Cure is good but in this case, there is no permanent remedy. It is true that there have been technological means to stop the condition but these are all temporary.

It is in this light that people should realize that investing in preventive measures is actually the key to keeping healthy. For example, if you know that you’re suffering from high blood sugar, you must maintain discipline and only have a diet with limited sugar intake. Diabetes, as mentioned, is a cause of small fiber neuropathy but it is something that can be combated. If you believe that you’re suffering from it, then you should act fast!

Special drugs and medicines should also be watched out for; there may be side effects that come out once taken in a person’s system. This could trigger the neuropathy depending on what stage it is or worse, complicate small fiber neuropathy more. It is better to invest in vitamin supplements and natural medicines to combat small fiber neuropathy.

Indeed this kind of condition is alarming and must be identified in the onset of the early stages before it advances. The key is to be aware of one’s health and keep your body in good condition and shape. Such measures can steer you away from conditions like small fiber neuropathy.

There are many different kinds of Neuropathy. For instance, symptoms of peripheral neuropathy might be different from small fiber neuropathy symptoms. It is important for you to take note where the pain or other sensations are coming from. There is a chance that what you are experiencing is not even related to any form of neuropathy.

The symptoms include pain, numbness, or the common pins and needles that we feel on our arms or legs. If any of these things that you are feeling are unusual and recurrent then you should consult your physician right away. It is better for it to be diagnosed early.

But the best way to be diagnosed is still to go to your doctor. He/She may perform an EMG (electromyography) or a nerve conduction test to see how fast the nerves are transmitting impulses. You may also get a blood test to see if there are any vitamin deficiencies.

Now that we have discussed what neuropathy is, let’s take a closer look at the more individual branches of the medical condition. This is because there are a lot of people asking ‘what is brachial plexus neuropathy.’ In other instances, it can also be referred to as brachial plexopathy. This is a nerve disorder which occurs in the brachial plexus. The brachial plexus is a group of nerves which are responsible for linking the arm together with the shoulder. One of the characteristics of the symptoms of this condition is the onset of intense pain which can be felt in the shoulder and in the upper arm. This pain is then followed by regional weakness.

Although the condition is rare, there are a number of doctors which misdiagnose the disease as a problem which starts in the cervical spine. They often tell the patient that this is a condition caused by either a compressed or slipped disc. This is because both of these conditions originate from the same area as the brachial plexus neuropathy condition.

There are several things which can cause this condition. This includes injuries due to stretching, trauma to the area, radiation, inflammation, tumors, exposure to toxins, congenital abnormalities, and even some medications. At the same time, the level of pain which can be experienced varies for each patient. There are some patients that can also feel numbness or tingling in the affected area. At first, the pain felt can be mistaken for strain or a similar injury. It is only until patients experience muscle weakness when they start going to the doctor and ask them ‘what is brachial plexus neuropathy.’ After consulting with a doctor, patients will need to undergo a series of tests in order to determine what proper treatment can be done to their condition.

Upon hearing the term, people will immediately ask ‘what is neuropathy.’ This is not uncommon as there are really a lot of people who are intrigued with this term, especially after their doctor has told them they are suffering from it. Before defining what this condition is, let us first take a look at the literal definition of the word.

Neuropathy comes from two words which are: Neuro and Pathy. In the medical field, neuro means nerves while pathy means abnormal. When these two words are combined, it means that the nerves are abnormal. And this is exactly what it is.

Neuropathy is a medical condition wherein the nerves have been damaged. The nerves have been known to send information to and from the spinal cord and the brain. Because of this damage, patients can experience common symptoms such as pain, numbness, and an inability of controlling muscle movement.

Often, it is associated with Peripheral neuropathy which is the nerves that are further from the center of the body. Some of the common areas where this condition is felt are in the hands and feet. Typically, the painful experience can be described as burning or tingling, while the numbness can be compared as wearing a glove or a thin stocking.

There are many causes for this condition. Some instances are a result of infections, traumatic injuries, exposure to toxins, and metabolic problems. But largely, the common cause for this condition is diabetes.

In most cases, the symptoms of neuropathy can improve over time. This is especially true if the condition has only been caused by an underlying situation that can still be treated. However, there are already several known medications that are known to reduce the painful symptoms neuropathy can bring to its patients.

After asking ‘what is neuropathy,’ the next common question people have is what its symptoms are. Aside from the ones mentioned above, there are still a number of other symptoms that can be experienced. But mostly, those that have been already mentioned are the most common.

Idiopathic Neuropathy – Perhaps The Worst Kind of Neuropathy

Did you know that millions of Americans are suffering from various types of neuropathies and its symptoms? The painful thing about this is that, majority of these people have idiopathic neuropathy. What does this mean? Imagine being completely healthy. No sicknesses or whatsoever. Then one day—BOOM! You suddenly lose sensation or feel weaknesses in your muscles. That’s what idiopathic neuropathy is.

As a background, the nervous system has two parts: the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS). The former includes the brain and the spinal cord while the latter composes the nerves connected to the CNS. Basically, idiopathic neuropathy affects the PNS. The scary thing about this type of neuropathy is that the cause is unknown. Hence, the cure is hard to find.

Idiopathic Neuropathy – The Good and Bad News

For people with idiopathic neuropathy, all the can depend on are medications and treatments which can lessen the symptoms, which can still vary. The sickness can affect the motor or the sensory nerves and cause different kinds of indications in the body. While there are some people who are lucky enough to get rid of this sickness when their bodies create new nerves, some have to live with it for the rest of their lives.

Technology is finding ways in order to treat these people. Although idiopathic neuropathy is truly a mystery, therapies which involve electric waves or infrared lights have proven to be successful. These are still under research and may cost a great deal of money. Until then, people have to hang in there as they battle the neuropathies plaguing their bodies.

What Makes Peripheral Neuropathy So Scary?

More than a million people suffer from peripheral neuropathy and they don’t know that they have it. All they know is that they are having the occasional muscle cramps or tingling sensations—which happens to some people. Because of the fact that it is hard to diagnose this sickness, people find out too late. It’s either the nerve damage has spread throughout their body causing them much pain or even, causing them not to feel anything.

Although there are experts regarding neuropathy, it does not mean that they can immediately tell when it strikes. The main reason is because, nerve damages is exemplified in simple conditions in the body like numbness, cramps and tingling, which we experience from time to time. Some people have their selves check and there’s nothing wrong—at least until they are paralyzed and unable to determine temperature or pain.

What You Can Do To Make The Neuropathy Threat Go Away

Neuropathy can strike at any time. It can start at the feet and spread to any part of the body. Since anybody is prone to having this, the best way to combat it is to learn more about it. Every person should take the responsibility to read more about peripheral neuropathy. If you’re a person who is prone to having it because a family member has hereditary neuropathy or because you’re diabetic, act at once! Have yourself checked. This way, although there is no permanent cure for it, peripheral neuropathy can be prevented.

What Hereditary Neuropathy Is

Have you ever noticed if your parents are feeling pain or numbness ocassionally? Have you ever considered asking them if they have had this pain before you were born. As you can see, it’s possible for peripheral neuropathy to be passed on from parents to their children. This is called hereditary neuropathy.

Hereditary neuropathy is just like the regular nerve damage cases. It can give you a twinge of pain or make you feel nothing. It has the same effects and symptoms, apparently. The only painful thing is that parents have to deal with the fact that their children are victims of the same sickness that they experience. For sure, they know that this cannot be healed, only given numerous treatments.

What You Can Do About Hereditary Neuropathy

Yes, it’s true. It can just strike without warning. The closest people can get to treating neuropathy is to help lessen its side effects such as physical pain, muscle cramps, paralysis and many others. It cannot be permanently removed. So, if you’re wondering why you feel the symptoms of neuropathy without having any disease or condition related to it—like diabetes—chances are it’s hereditary.

If you’re one of them, you should not feel bad or angry at your parents. They are also dealing with this pain on their own, unfortunately. You have to be understanding with regards to your case. The best thing you can do is to have yourself checked as soon as you feel that you have symptoms. At least, this way you can face the neuropathy condition together.

How Does Diabetic Neuropathy in Cats Happen?

Diabetes is truly a cause of panic for many people, especially diabetic neuropathy. It has caused numerous problems for thousands of individuals around the world. It is because of this that diabetics have find it harder to move. They experience nerve damage, which may cause them to lose the ability to feel.

Not many know that this is true not only for humans but also for animals, especially cats. Did you know that even cats can catch diabetes? There are two ways which this can happen.

1. It may be that your cat may not be producing enough insulin.
2. It may be that your cat’s body is not responding well to insulin.

Felines with diabetes often suffer animal neuropathy. Because of this, they find it hard to walk.

As A Pet Owner, What Can I Do To Stop Diabetic Neuropathy in Animals?

If you are an owner of a cat and you observe that your cat’s hind legs seem to slip or that your cat seems to be tired after walking a short distance, then you should be concerned. Diabetes in animals just like in humans can affect their movements and metabolism.

One way to fight this is to give them vitamins, specifically vitamin B. Consult your vet to learn more about this. At the same time, you should take the time to help you cat walk. This condition may also cause their muscles to weaken. As you can see, as an owner, it is up to you to prevent the diabetic neuropathy in animals from spreading.

How Neuropathy Can Affect A Person

More and more people suffer from nerve damage. Unfortunately, not all cases are given a permanent neuropathy treatment. Most of the time, cures are only temporary causing people to spend loads of money. At the same time, it goes through a series of procedures wearing out a person who has the condition.

Because of all the problems and issues that the whole treatment process can do, it cannot be avoided that patients experience some sort of emotional and psychological stress. It is within this moment that they need others to help them. Not many people do well upon learning that they are suffering from a condition that may be permanent.

How You Can Help Neuropathy Patients

If you know someone who is suffering from neuropathy, help them out. Many of them have lost the ability walk and feel. To them, this sickness has caused them a lot of pain, both physically and emotionally. They are people who need the most company to help assure them that they are not less of a person because of their disabilities.

If you know someone who has neuropathy, you should take the time to help them. Some of them may look strong but majority of them are all struggling. Any kind of assistance will help peripheral neuropathy patients.
